23 August 2007: The development of the spa was handled by international spa design and consultancy specialists, Spa Developments.
Spa Developments, appointed by De Vere three years ago after a competitive pitch, handled the entire process from business planning, interior design and consulting services.
The design and build of the spa at Cameron House combines the influences of its stunning location in the heart of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park with first-class spa facilities.
Key design features include:
- Roof top – stainless steel hydro pool with infinity edge providing guests with views to Ben Lomond and Loch Lomond
-Designing the spa so that it ‘brings the outdoors - indoors’ i.e. outdoor hydro experience (roof top pool), outdoor terraces, private balconies, fully glazed saunas
-Using natural products and resources
-The internal finishes are a neutral colour palette with the emphasis on texture, light & shade and accent
-Natural timber and stone finishes are contrasted against glass and stainless steel
-Contemporary design, using concentric circles and soft lighting throughout to enhance the finishes
-The sauna and caldarium with glazed windows also provide guests with views to the 18th Hole on the Carrick golf course
-The thermal and hydro experiences bring all the seasons elements into one location.
John Patience, partner and designer at Spa Developments commented, We have designed the spa to reflect its natural location. The rugged texture of Ben Lomond contrasting with the reflections on the loch influenced the interior design, where the relationship between the stone and the natural timbers, overlaid in a contemporary style add drama to compare with the surrounding landscape. We feel that the balance of light and dark, of long vista’s and intimate treatment spaces bathed in halo lighting add a shimmering quality to the interior”
